Gloria Gillespie

January 17, 1945 — April 21, 2016

Mrs. Gloria Gillespie, age 71 of Grand Junction, Tennessee, passed away Thursday afternoon, April 21, 2016 at her home.

She was born in Pikeville, Kentucky on January 17, 1945, daughter of the late Frank and Lora Doepel. She went to school at Pikeville High School and married John Gillespie in 1961. They spent most of their life in Memphis and retired to Grand Junction. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Grand Junction where she served as treasurer for over 10 years. She was a member of the Hardeman County Arts Council and the Memphis Street Rods. She loved to read with her book club and enjoyed spending time with friends and family, hosting lots of parties.

She is survived by her husband, John; a daughter Anna Nichols and husband, David; grandchildren, Katherine, Daniel and Molly; and a brother, Ted Doepel. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Sylvia Doepel Chaney. The family requests memorial donations in Mrs. Gillespie's name be made to the United Methodist Church in Grand Junction or the West Clinic.
