Gloria Corrine Durham Gegumis

Gloria Corrine Durham Gegumis passed away on Saturday August 24, 2024 at her home in Oakland TN at the age of 97. She was born on December 19, 1926, in Memphis, TN to the late Robert Stovall Durham and Lorene E Bell Durham. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, John Van Gegumis; one daughter, Marie Annette Insco; one son, John Van Robert Gegumis, brothers, Robert (Bobby) S Durham Jr., William (Bill ) Merritt Durham; and sister, Bunnie Marie Woods.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Catherine(kitty)G. Allum; son, William (Billy)V Gegumis; sister, Ruby Lambert; brother James Donald (Don) Durham, 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends that will truly miss her.

Gloria retired from the phone company, Bellsouth, in 1991. Gloria, (also known as Dover, and Granny), will be fondly remembered for her love of family, retirement, reading and playing on her computer and iPad. However, her greatest joys came from spending time with her family. She was a dedicated supporter of her grandkids, she found immense pleasure in watching them grow into beautiful people. She leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. Memorial contributions, in her name may be sent to Veterans or Wounded Warrier’s of Tennessee.
