Glenn Jackson Simmons of Iron City, TN was born October 5, 1960 in Pell City , AL, the son of Betty Gay Scrivner Simmons of Iron City, TN, who survives, and the late Ted Simmons. He was united in marriage to Carol Annette Franks on September 8, 1979.
Mr. Simmons was a logger and served with the Alabama National Guard from 1979 to 1998. He was a member of the Iron City Freewill Baptist Church in Iron City, Tennessee.
Mr. Simmons departed this life on Friday, November 14, 2014 at his home at the age of 54 Years, 1 Month, 9 Days.
Other than his mother, he is survived by his wife, Carol Annette Franks Simmons of Iron City, TN; a son, Jeremy Glenn Simmons and wife, Dana of Collinwood, TN; daughters, Julia Simmons Benedict and husband, Aaron of Collinwood, TN, Carrie Ann Simmons Bowers and husband, James of Adamsville, TN and Courtney Jaclyn Simmons of Collinwood, TN; seven grandchildren and a button; brothers, Grayson Simmons and John Simmons both of Ethridge, TN; sisters, Mary Young of Cherokee, AL and Tina Edgar of Zip City, AL; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by a brother, Ted Allen Simmons.
Services will be Monday, November 17, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Iron City Freewill Baptist Church, Iron City, Tennessee, with Tim Hanback officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in the Railroad Cemetery, Iron City, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County directing. Pallbearers will be Grayson, John, Trent and Ted Bryan Simmons and Vince and Michael Young.
Visitation will begin on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at 6 pm at Iron City Freewill Baptist Church, Iron City, TN.
