Glen Byron Newsom

Glen Byron Newsom was born on November 19, 1928 in Chester County, TN the son of the late Ellis and Irene Smith Newsom. 

Mr. Newsom was a 1946 graduate of Bethel Springs High School. 

He was united in marriage to Anna Lee Russell on May 19, 1949. Mrs. Newsom passed away on October 25, 2013 after 64 years of marriage. 

A hard working, loving husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Mr. Newsom will be remembered by those who knew him well for his wealth of knowledge on how to repair anything from large equipment to cars, HVAC, electrical, or you name it - chances are he could help you. He loved chocolate drops, circus peanuts, nutty bars, cokes and always had a pocket full of peppermint candies. He loved to read, talk to people, and was quite witty. One reply that comes to mind is when asked how he was doing - he would respond with "Doing without like all us poor folk."

Mr. Newsom departed this life on November 26, 2023 in Selmer, TN at the age of 95 years, 7 days. He is survived by his daughter, Glenda Judd and husband Steve of Selmer, TN; a son, Keith Newsom of Hermitage, TN; daughter-in-law, Sandra Newsom of St. Louis, MO; seven grandchildren, Michelle Runkle, Shari McDonald, Beth Eckley, Elizabeth Mitchell, Tonya Lambert, Michael Newsom, and Colton Judd; 13 great grandchildren;

three sisters, Marilyn Hill of Bethel Springs, TN, Jean Hardin of Finger, TN and Carolyn Wharton of Finger, TN; brother, Aaron Newsom of Memphis, TN; and a host of extended family and friends.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Newsom was preceded in death by a son, Roger Glen Newsom; a brother, J.W. Newsom.
