Glen Robert Blount departed this life on Thursday, September 22, 2016, at the age of 96 years, 10 months, and 21 days. He was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on November 1, 1919, the son of the late Arthur Morris and Lura Diltha Falls Blount. On December 26, 1943, he was united in marriage to Mary Frances Reed, who preceded him in death on October 10, 2004.
Glen loved to draw and paint. He was a creative and skilled craftsman. He built many houses, churches, and various types of buildings in Savannah and surrounding communities. He enjoyed researching his family genealogy and the history of Hardin County. Glen will be greatly missed by many and remembered for his wood-working talent, his large family, and long strolls around the neighborhood with a banana popsicle in his hand.
He is survived by his children, Gary Blount and wife, Jane of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Glenda Hardin and husband, Gordon, of Savannah, Tennessee, Charlotte Calvert and husband, Ike of Savannah, Tennessee, Vickie Hale and husband, John of Humboldt, Tennessee, Lynette Linam and husband, David of Savannah, Tennessee, Shelley Scott and husband, Paul of Clarksville, Tennessee; brothers, Delmas Blount and wife, Mildred and Ancil Blount and wife, Betty all of Savannah, Tennessee; sister, Geneva Rinks of Savannah, Tennessee; two nieces whom his parents raised, Yvetta Hilton and husband, James and Jerri Mole and husband, Jack; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Allie Whitaker; brothers, Carl, Maxell, Morris, Douglas, and Danny Blount; and a great-grandchild, Jack Hale Hayes.
