Gillis Wallace

Gillis Wallace Jr. was born February 21, 1940 in McNairy County, Tennessee the son of the late Herman Gillis Sr. and Margret Scott Wallace.After graduating from High School, he attended college at Lambuth University in Jackson, Tennessee. Mr. Wallace was united in marriage to Sandra Smith on April 5, 1974.Mr. Wallace, along with his wife, was the owner and operator of Selmer Sporting Goods in Selmer, Tennessee, where he always enjoyed visiting with his many friends and customers. He was a member of the Selmer First Baptist Church. He enjoyed metal detecting and collecting Civil War memorabilia. Mr. Wallace departed this life on November 2, 2006 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 66 Years, 8 Months, 12 Days. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Sandra Smith Wallace of Selmer, Tennessee; eight cousins: James Eldon Thomas of Clarksville, Tennessee, Tim Thomas of Clarksville, Tennessee, Kent Thomas of Florida, Virginia Hendrix of Jackson, Tennessee, Johnie Powers of Selmer, Sara Alexander of Sheffield, Alabama, Turney Deakins of Birmingham, Alabama and Alice Ella White of Jackson, Tennessee; and his aunt by marriage, Katherine Scott of Selmer, Tennessee.
