Gilbert Anderson Pierce of Henderson, TN died on Sept. 20, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis following a stroke.
Mr. Pierce was born on March 9, 1922 to Mattie Brewer Pierce and James (Jim) Pierce who preceded him in death in March 1969.
He married Novella Moore on July 4, 1944 who survives along with their daughter Anne Pierce Clark and husband Richard of Oakland, TN. He leaves a granddaughter Sarah Lutterloh and husband Charles of Arlington, TN and great granddaughter Kimberly and great grandson Chas also of Arlington; along with many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by 6 brothers; Earl, Robert, Willie, Milliard, Travis and Guylie Pierce and 1 sister Ola Mae Pierce Seeley.
Mr. Pierce was a member of First Baptist Church of Henderson where he served for 50 years as a deacon and treasurer. He was a member of Woodmen of the World and he served on the Election Commission for many years and served as chairman. He worked for Southwest Electric of Henderson for 37 years and retired in 1987.
Services will be conducted at Shackelford Funeral Directors-Johnson Chapel in Henderson on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008 at 11:00 with burial to follow in the Henderson City Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday beginning at 5 P.M.
