Gertrude Throgmorton Walker of Waynesboro, TN was born August 27, 1920 in Waynesboro, TN, the daughter of the late John Franklin and Ella Jane Kilburn Throgmorton. She was united in marriage to J. G. Walker Jr. on November 26, 1935 and he preceded her in death on November 26, 1996.
Mrs. Walker was a homemaker and a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Waynesboro, Tennessee.
Mrs. Walker departed this life on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at Wayne Medical Center in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 91 Years, 4 Months, 4 Days.
She is survived by a daughter, Shirley Harder of Waynesboro, TN; grandchildren, Brett Harder and wife, Patsy of Waynesboro, TN, Natasha Harder of Tuscaloosa, AL; great-grandchildren, Aaron and Kaitlyn Harder; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Throgmorton; sisters, Viola Mae Thompson, Bertha E. Brewer, Geraldine Peacock.
Services will be held Monday, January 2, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel, Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Greg Eaton officiating. Burial will follow in the Throgmorton Cemetery, Waynesboro, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing. Pallbearers will be Butch Nutt, Jim Mangubat, Buddy Throgmorton, Jimmy Hill, Herbert Brewer, and Rex Moore.
