Pinson, TN: Alice Gertrude Burress Cochran, age 91 passed away February 23, 2012 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
She was born and reared in the Five Points Community of Madison County, the daughter of the late Robert Mays and Effie Gertrude Sells Burress. She went to school at the County Line School and graduated from Pinson High School in 1938. She married Jeff Cochran in 1939 and they made their home in the Big Springs Community where Mr. Cochran farmed. Mrs. Cochran worked for the TN Division of Forestry in Pinson as well as a homemaker. She was a member of the Big Springs Methodist Church and a member of the Eastern Star for 50 years plus Lodge #485 of Henderson.
She is survived by two daughters, Betty Jane Cooper (Gaylon) of Beech Bluff and Judy Love (Travis) of Pinson; three grandchildren, Dawn Cooper, Rodney White (Amy) and Melanie Long (Tracy) and four great grandchildren, Madeline Riggsbee, Matthew Riggsbee, Casey White and Heather White; two sisters, Odessa Austin of Henderson and Tauso Branch of New Albany, MS.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas (Jeff) Cochran in 1976; two brothers, G.L. Burress and Enlo Burress and two sisters, Thelma Seaton and Velma Burress.
