Gertie Bevis

Gertie Ruby Bevis, 92, of Florence, AL passed from this life Friday, May 3, 2013. She was a life-long homemaker.Mrs. Bevis was a former member of Eastwood Church of Christ and a present member of Petersville Church of Christ.She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Monroe and Nancy Elizabeth Hinton Holt; her infant son, Lawrence Paul, son, Arlon Eugene, and loving husband of 63 years, Doil Bevis; brothers, Carl, Vernon, and Warren Holt; sisters, Ruby Holt, Goldie Holt Ayers, and Esther Holt Eaton; step-mother, Irene Martin Holt; and half-brother, Charlie Holt.She is survived by her three sons, Fred Doil Bevis, James Arnel Bevis and wife, Sue, and Jimmy Lee Bevis all of Florence, seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; a very special half-sister, Ival Holt Rainey of Waycros, GA and also a very special niece, Ivon Eaton Pierce of Florence and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Monday, May 6, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel, Collinwood, Tennessee, with Sonny Owens officiating. Burial will follow in the Balentine Cemetery, Lutts, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing.
