Georgia Smith, a beloved member of the community, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2023, at the age of 88 years. Born on January 8, 1935, in Henderson, TN, she was the cherished daughter of Kodie and Martha Russom Weaver.
Georgia's formative years were spent in Chester County, where she graduated high school. On May 12, 1984, she entered into a sacred union with Harold "Harry" Smith. Together, they created a life filled with love and devotion until Harry's passing on July 17, 2018.
Throughout her vibrant life, Georgia pursued various endeavors that allowed her to showcase her passion for fashion and assist others in finding the perfect attire. From her work at Brown Shoe Company to managing Kenwin Shop and serving as a sales clerk at Cherrys, Browders, Sisssy's and Choices – Georgia's expertise in fashion and her dedication to helping clients put together remarkable outfits was truly admirable.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Georgia found solace and joy in other aspects of life. She possessed a green thumb and nurtured beautiful flowers in her garden. Her keen eye for aesthetics extended to decorating as well. With an exquisite taste for design, Georgia transformed every space she touched into a visual masterpiece. Furthermore, Georgia possessed exceptional talent as a seamstress.
In her leisure time, Georgia found delight in cheering on the Tennessee football team. However, above all else, her greatest source of happiness came from attending her grandchildren's events. Their milestones provided endless moments of pride and fulfillment for Georgia – a testament to the unbreakable bond she shared with each one of them.
Guided by faith throughout her life journey, Georgia was a valued member of the First Baptist Church in Selmer for many years. Her spirituality provided her with strength, comfort, and a sense of purpose.
Georgia's legacy will forever live on through her loving family. She is survived by her two daughters, Sheila Doyle and husband Bobby of Hornsby, TN and Vickie Coleson and husband Darwin of Selmer, TN; four grandchildren: Heath Doyle and his wife Amy, Heather Schutte and her husband Nick, April Garey and her husband Alex, Casey Coleson and his wife Hannah; four great grandchildren; and a host extended family and a multitude of friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by four sisters, Helen Rowland, Dorothy Morton, Jurilee Rouse and Gladys Weaver; two brothers, Jesse Weaver and James Randall Weaver.
Georgia Smith's life was a tapestry woven with compassion, creativity, faith, and unwavering love for her family. She leaves behind cherished memories that will be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May we find solace in celebrating the remarkable life she led and carrying forward her spirit of kindness and grace.
