Services for Gerald Travis Skelton will be Monday, November 3, 2008 at 3:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Chapel in Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Greg Eaton and Cary Crews officiating. Burial will follow in the Skelton Cemetery near Waynesboro with Shackelford Funeral Directors of Wayne County in charge of arrangements.
He was born March 24, 1955 in Waynesboro, Tennessee the son of the late Obie Kirk and Bessie Whitehead Skelton. Mr. Skelton departed this life on October 31, 2008 at his home in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 53 Years, 7 Months, 7 Days. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, James Potete.
Gerald was a supervisor for the Tennessee Department of Revenue in the Tax Enforcement Division. He served as a scoutmaster for the Boy Scots of America, formerly coached Dixie Youth Baseball for many years, and was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife Connie C. Skelton of Waynesboro, TN;
two sons, Daniel Obie Skelton and wife Kristy of Old Hickory, TN and Ronald Travis Skelton and wife Felicia of Waynesboro, TN; three brothers, Virgil Kirk Skelton and wife Joevelyn, Jimmy Cleveland Skelton and wife Anita all of Waynesboro, TN, and stepbrother, Mike Potete of New Brockton, AL;
four sisters, Nancy Langford of Lebanon, TN, Loretta Burgess of Waynesboro, TN, Mable Joyce Tuverson of Mt. Juliet, TN, and Michelle Barnett of Cumming, GA;
