Georgia Frances Clayton

June 21, 1934 — July 28, 2016

Mrs. Georgia Frances Clayton, age 82 of La Grange, Tennessee, passed from this life Thursday night, July 28, 2016 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Collierville, Tennessee.

A native of Madison County, she was born Thursday, June 21, 1934 in Medon, Tennessee to the late Floyd Dudley and Mattie Elizabeth Hartley Diggs. On Wednesday, July 4, 1951, she was united in marriage to Mr. William Reeder Clayton, Sr., who preceded her in death April 18, 1985.

Mrs. Clayton was a resident of La Grange for over 40 years and worked as a bundler and sorter for Salant & Salant for 32 years. She also worked as a restaurant cook. She had a passion for flowers, and was an avid gardener. Her favorite pastimes were embroidering and quilting.

Survivors include her children, Gloria Jean Breedlove and husband Danny, Sr. of Falkner, Mississippi, Mary Frances Harper of Memphis, Billy Wayne Clayton and wife Karen of Bolivar, Margaret Ann Hoffman and husband Leonard of Webster, Minnesota, and William R. Clayton, Jr. and wife Ginger of New Market, Alabama; sisters, Annie Lois Harris of Oakland, and Martha Elizabeth Yucel and husband Edgar of Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts; brother, Raymond D. Diggs and wife Winnie of Bartlett; grandchildren, Danny Ray Breedlove, Jr., Angie Barber, Bill S. Harper, Jacquelyn Simons, Ashley Hoffman, Brett Hoffman and Kenna Clayton; great-grandchildren, Jonathan Breedlove, Lindsay Breedlove, Daniel Travis Breedlove, James Daniel Barber, Hunter Harper, Elizabeth Harper, Carson Simons, Maddox Simons and Hadleigh Simons; and great-great-grandchild, Abigail Grace Barber.

DIRECTIONS TO PROSPECT CEMETERY FROM BOLIVAR:

Take Highway 18 N; turn right on to Highway 100; follow 100 to Highway 104 at Regan, TN; then turn right; in 4.7 miles turn left on to Highway 201; follow 201 for 1.3 miles; turn right on Presley Ridge Road; Cemetery is 0.6 miles on your left.
