George O\'Neal Petty

George O\'Neal Petty was born September 13, 1924 in McNairy County, Tennessee the son of the late Elmer and Maggie Petty.On May 11, 1942, he was united in marriage to Jean North Petty who survived. He was employed with Brown Shoe Company in Selmer for 40 years. He was a member of the Gravel Hill Baptist Church in Eastview, Tennessee where he served as a Deacon. Mr. Petty was a United States Navy veteran of World War II.Mr. Petty departed this life on June 1, 2006 in Adamsville, Tennessee at the age of 81 Years, 8 Months, 19 Days. Other than his wife, Jean North Petty of Ramer, Tennessee, he is survived by two daughters, Sue Moore of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Melanie Rickman of Jackson, Tennessee; two sons, Danny Petty of Ramer, Tennessee, Benny L. Petty of College Station, Texas; two sisters, Nerva Jane Palmer of San Jose, California, Mary Lynn Moore of Arlington, Tennessee; 9 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren.Other than his parents, Mr. Petty was preceded in death by two brothers, Lurley H. Petty, Bill Petty and a half-sister, Rena Gray.
