George Elbert Norris

George Elbert Norris was born August 22, 1936 in Fort Deposit, Alabama the son of the late Tom and Susie Marvin Norris. He was united in marriage to Gwen Blakely.Mr. Norris was employed for 22 years with Brown Shoe Company in Selmer, and was a member of the Ramer Baptist Church. He also served his state and country as a member of the Tennessee National Guard. Mr. Norris departed this life on May 3, 2007 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 70 Years, 8 Months, 11 Days. He is survived by his wife, Gwen Blakely Norris of Selmer, Tennessee; two sons: Jimmy Norris of Fort Worth, Texas and John Norris of Selmer, Tennessee; three sisters: Margarette Saxon of Mt. Willing, Alabama, Inez Martinez of Greenville, North Carolina and Christine Pennini of Prosper, Texas; five brothers: Charles Norris of Troy, Alabama, William Norris and Thomas H. Norris, both of Montgomery, Alabama, Leon Norris of Athens, Tennessee and Robert Norris of Dothan, Alabama; and five grandchildren: Stephanie, Courtney, Kelly, Samantha and Emily. In addition to his parents, Mr. Norris was also preceded in death by a brother, Sidney Norris, and a sister, Jeanette Simpler.
