George J. Griggs

George J. Griggs was born March 18, 1952 in Waynesboro, TN the son of the late Calvin Lee and Beulah Mae Kilburn Griggs. He was the father of the late Buddy Alan Griggs and brother of the late Dorothy Erby, Pearline Collins, Irene Daniel, Marie Thompson, Hazel Griggs, and Ronald Griggs. Mr. Griggs died Monday,December 31, 2012 at Wayne Medical Center at the age of 60 Years, 9 Months, 13 Days. He was a disabled sawmill worker.He is survived by sons, Richard Griggs, Delo Griggs, and James Griggs all of Waynesboro, TN; three daughters, Brandy Higdon and Crystal Robbins both of Waynesboro, TN, and Rosia Leigh Murphy of Cypess Inn, TN; 14 grandchildren; four brothers, Melvin Griggs and Harold Griggs both of Waynesboro, Alvin Griggs and Willie Griggs both of Collinwood, TN; several nieces and nephews.Services will be held on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel, Waynesboro, Tennessee, with John Hodum officiating. Burial will follow in the Shields Cemetery, Waynesboro, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing. Pallbearers will be James Vaughn, Jimmy Murphy, R. D. Horton, Robert Holt, Cody Rippy, Josh Griggs, Devo Griggs, and Jonathan Robbins.
