George L. Griffin was born May 8, 1925 in Shelby County, Tennessee the son of the late Henry Birch and Pearl Halstead Griffin.
He was united in marriage to Edna Taylor on April 3, 1970.
Mr. Griffin was a self-employed mechanic who liked to work on old cars and repair outboard motors. He also retired from ITT in Selmer as a maintenance worker. Mr. Griffin loved to fish, enjoyed spending time with his two dogs, and enjoyed playing practical jokes and pranks on everyone. He was Baptist in belief.
Mr. Griffin departed this life on November 2, 2010 in Corinth, Mississippi at the age of 85 Years, 5 Months, 25 Days. He is survived by his wife Edna (Taylor) Griffin of Selmer, TN; a daughter, Teresa Walker and husband Jeff of Selmer, TN; a son, Paul Griffin and wife Annette of Ramer, TN, three step-daughters: Geneva Moore and husband Ray of Selmer, TN, Betty Parsons and husband Larry of Selmer, TN, and Geraldine McEwen and husband Jerry of Corinth, MS; a step-son, William Keen of Selmer, TN; 17 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; special friend and caregiver Eddie Rowsey and wife Tena of Guys, TN; and many extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Griffin was preceded in death by two step-sons, Gilbert Keen and Cecil Keen; three sisters: Mildred Griffin, Margarette Burns, and Jeneive Griffin; and three brothers: H. B. Griffin, Chester Griffin, and Harrison Griffin.
