Geneva Lambert, age 81 of Silerton, passed from this life Saturday night, February 7, 2009 at her home.
She was born May 15, 1927 in Silerton to the late George and Ollie Howell Whitten. She married Lindbergh Lambert December 24, 1950 in Corinth, Mississippi and they lived for 32 years in Indiana. They moved back to Hardeman County in 1982. She was a founding member of the Silerton Fire Department (est. 1990) and worked as its secretary until 2008. She was a member and pianist at the Silerton Baptist Church.
She is survived by six daughters, Sandra Schinkel and husband Richard of Cedar Lake, IN, Cathy Larson and husband Donald of Port Orange, FL, Mary Wilson and husband Harold of Indianapolis, IN, Barbara Lambert of Silerton, Judith Grasham and husband Robert of Lake Station, IN, and Donna Shepler and husband Bruce of Indianapolis, IN; a son, Randy Lambert and wife Tamara of Crown Point, IN; seven grandchildren, Nicholas Schinkel, Alexander Schinkel, Megan Lambert, Storm Wilson, Joseph Lambert, William Grasham, and Andrew Grasham; a great-grandchild, Daniel Schinkel; a sister, Louise Rush of Brownsville, TN; a brother, Kermit Whitten of Alcoa, TN; and in-laws, Maurice Lambert, Ann and Hughlon Wade, Nancy Cole, Janet Lambert, Frankie and Janice Lambert and Leo Lambert.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Lambert was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Jessica Wilson and Matthew Schinkel; siblings, Homer Whitten, Marylou Whitten, Pearl Mayfield, Lillie Mae Partridge, Lorene Morris, Howard Whitten and Laverne Whitten; parents-in-law, Clay and Lida Lambert; and other in-laws, Ruby Lambert, Cleo Lambert, Lemuel Lambert, Bobby Joe Lambert, John Lambert and Roseann Lambert.
