General George

General George was born December 2, 1924 in Sheffield, Alabama the son of the late James Robert and Arbie Farris George.



He was united in marriage to Ruthie Flanagan on August 11, 1946. To this union were born 3 children. Ruthie preceded him in death on March 19, 1992. On July 21, 1993, he was united in marriage to Geneva Brown Moore, who survives.



Mr. George graduated as Salutatorian from Michie High School. He was inducted into the United States Army in November of 1943, and served until April of 1946. While in service, Mr. George attained the rank of technical sergeant in Patton's Third Army, the 86th (Blackhawk) Division. He fought in the European Theatre and also served in the Philippines. Mr. George was a carpenter supervisor for 36 years at Crown Central Petroleum Company in TX. While in Texas, he served as an Elder for the Deer Park church of Christ. After retiring in 1987, he returned to Tennessee and became a member of the Acton church of Christ in Michie. He also served with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, and enjoyed gardening and traveling in his spare time.



Mr. George departed this life on August 15, 2008 in Corinth, Mississippi at the age of 83 Years, 8 Months, 13 Days. He is survived by his wife Geneva Moore George of Michie, TN; a daughter, Charlotte (George) Murphy of Michie, TN; two sons: Keith George of Denver, CO and Robert George of Sal Paulo, Brazil: two step-sons: Barry Moore and wife Gale and Michael Moore and wife Judy, all of Michie, TN; a sister, Jean Smith and husband George of Michie, TN; three brothers: Ray George of Corinth MS, Malcom George and wife Verlin of Hohenwald, TN and John George and wife Peggy of Michie, TN; three grandchildren, Colin George, Angela Lopez and Tisha Wilhite; 6 step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sister-in-laws: Ann Smith and husband Vester and Brenda Clark and husband Gary, all of Houston, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews extended family and friends.
