Gene Phillipswas born in Savannah, Tennessee on September 8, 1929 the son of the late Edgar Junior and Maxine Harville Phillips.On October 26, 1949 he was united in marriage to the former Lena Earlene Shephard, who survives. Mr. Phillips worked as a bulldozer operator with the Hardin County Highway Department and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He departed this life on August 9, 2007 in Florence, Alabama at the age of 77 years, 11 months and 1 day.Mr. Phillips is survived by his wife, Earlene Phillips of Savannah;five daughters: Diannah Holcombe of Waterloo, Alabama, Carolyn White of Savannah, Tennessee, Shelia Turnbow of Crump, Tennessee, Teresia Baker of Pocahontas, Arkansas and Barbara Cameron of LaVergne, Tennessee;8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren;3 sisters: Ann Blackwelder of Savannah, Tennessee, Pat Cearley of Pinson, Tennessee and Kate Blackman of Oklahoma.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two great-grandchildren: Kylie and Kastin; 5 brothers and one sister.
