Gene Autry Curtis was born June 25, 1937 in McNairy County, TN the son of the late William Andrew and Ruby Morgan Curtis.
He was united in marriage to Helen Ayers on December 7, 1955, and celebrated their 57th anniversary in December of 2012.
Mr. Curtis was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge, Moose Legion, and received the Fellowship Degree of Honor, along with being a member of the Elks Lodge, and American Legion. He also had served as past Governor of the Selmer Moose Lodge. Mr. Curtis was a member of the Lorraine Baptist Church in Guys TN.
Mr. Curtis worked for various companies such as Sears, Viking Trucking, Ajax Vending, and Tenneco Manufacturing where he worked as a pipe fitter and in millwright. Some of his hobbies were boating, camping, developing property, trading, socializing, and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Helen Ayers Curtis of Ramer, TN; a daughter, Lisa Contreras and husband Don of Seattle, WA; a son, Michael Gene Curtis and wife Lisa of Orlando, FL; a niece, two nephews, two cousins and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Curtis was preceded in death by two sisters, Lois Curtis, Mildred Kiddy; four brothers, Dewey Edward, Jessie, Granville, and John Fred Curtis.
