Gazell Holland

November 26, 1924 — October 30, 2007

Mrs. Holland is survived by her husband, Melvin “Grandpa” Holland of Henderson; two daughters, Melinda O’Donnell (Michael) of Coral Springs, FL and Glenda Baker (Donald) of Henderson; two sons, Stanley Holland (Joan) of Jackson and Ralph Holland (Donna) of Lewisville, TX; a sister, Durelle Williams of Collierville; ten grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.



She was born in Cambria, IL daughter of the late Frank Harrison and Ella Mae Carothers Walker. She graduated from Chester County High School in 1942 and later from Freed Hardeman College in 1944. She was married to Melvin Holland in 1945. They made their home in Decatur, McNairy, Carroll and Chester Counties. She taught school in all of those counties and was a member of the Women Auxiliary of the TN Association of Rescue Squads, Sardis Ridge FCE, the First United Pentecostal Church of Henderson, where she was a Sunday school teacher, choir leader and a youth leader.
