The family of Gary D. Taylor, 56, of Bolivar, will honor his memory with a private graveside in the coming days. Memorials may be sent to the National Kidney Foundation. He departed this life on Monday, December 2, 2024, at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Born on Monday, May 20, 1968, in Jackson, to Lavern and Frances Grantham Taylor, who survive, Gary was a 1987 graduate of Bolivar Central High School and had worked as a facilities supervisor at Western Mental Health Institute in Bolivar for over 9 years. He also worked in maintenance at the Memphis Jewish Home and had operated Taylor's Paint Company for 12 years. A life-long resident of Hardeman County, he enjoyed riding dirt bikes and four-wheelers - basically, anything with wheels! Described as a man who was "true to his roots", he had enjoyed coaching his sons' baseball teams, when they were younger, and dearly loved all the members of his immediate and extended family.
In addition to his parents, Gary is survived by two sons, Ethan Taylor (Delaney) and Jacob Taylor (Abigail), both of Toone, his sister, Lisa Woods (Kristopher) of Toone; and his aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, George and Pattie Grantham; and his paternal grandparents, Alfred and Hattie Taylor.
