Gary Roach

Pinson, TN: Gary D. Roach age 71, passed away March 14, 2012 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.



He was born in Axton, VA the son of the late Glen and Ethel Harris Roach. He attended Drewry Mason School and later, Oak Ridge Military Academy in Oak Ridge, NC and Hampden-Sidney College in Hampden Sidney, Virginia where he played collegian basketball. He was married to Laurine Ward on Aug. 29, 1981. Mr. Roach was employed by Goodyear Tire and Rubber for 35 years serving as plant manager at three locations for over 14 years. He retired in 2001 and has lived at Pinson since that time. He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church where he had served as Sunday School Superintendent and on the Building Committee. He was very active in the Tennessee High School Rodeo Association and enjoyed buying and refurbishing old saddles.



He is survived by his wife Laurine Ward Roach of Pinson, four daughters, Karan Segura of Branch Falls, TN, Michelle Morris (Kyle) of Luray, TN, Wendy Poe (Dale) of Kingsport, TN and Stacy Cassell (Mel) of Danville,VA; two sons, Danny Roach of Columbia, TN and Len Phegley (Amber) of Trenton, TN; grandchildren, Jayd Bivens, Christopher Poe, Danielle Poe, Emily Poe, Kennedy Cassell, Lauren Kyley Phegley, Leonard Phegley, Carter Beth Cassell, Abigail Phegley and Carlie Roach; a sister, Glenda Roach of Collinsville, VA and Mother-in-law, Thelma Ward of El Campo, TX.
