Gary Everette Reed

July 30, 1963 — January 24, 2022

Gary Everette Reed passed away at home on January 24, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 30, 1963 in Vero Beach, Florida to the late William Glenn and Bernice Bee Laichalk Reed.

He was united in marriage to Denise Kight on March 27, 1983 in Horseshoe Beach, Florida.

Gary loved life and lived it to the fullest. He spent most of his childhood and his life traveling the country. His great love of the outdoors was some of his fondest memories. He spent many years working for the forestry service traveling all over planting trees. Not only did he plant trees, he was the crew leader. He loved his job with the forestry and the people he worked with. Most of his friends and family would say, "He was the hardest working man they knew."

He loved all sports - watching and playing. He was proud that his favorite MLB team - Atlanta Braves won the World Series in 2021. He spent many countless hours playing board games with his family. He enjoyed history and learning - he was a wonderful storyteller. He could entertain anyone with stories from his adventurous life traveling the states.

Gary was most proud of his family. He was an amazing father to his nine children and his nine grandchildren adored him. He often commented that his wife Denise was the best thing that ever happened to him.

Gary was a hero and inspiration to all who knew him. His unwavering faith in God carried him through his battle with Muscular Dystrophy. He never complained and was so grateful for everything he had. He lived a Godly life and always praised God for everything. He was a member of the Church of the Crossroads in Corinth, MS.

Even though Gary had been disabled for the past eleven years, he still had the calloused hands of someone who worked so hard to provide for his family. He was loved by everyone who knew him and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife Denise (Kight) Reed of Stantonville, TN; eight daughters, Sarah Robertson and husband Miles, Rachel Jarrett and husband Jonathan, JoAnna, Anna, Jeanette, Erin, Miriam, and Laura Reed; nine grandchildren, Landon Jarrett, Sadie Jarrett, Finn Reed Jarrett, Jermaine Robertson, Clarissa Robertson, Emily Robertson, Jaxston Robertson, Elizabeth Robertson, Sarah Kate Robertson;
