Garner E. Laney, 89, of Mercer, died Saturday, May 13, 2006 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.
The husband of Lillian Jordan Laney, who survives, he was a farmer. Mr. Laney was born October 24, 1916 in Hardeman County, son of the late Clifton Eugene Laney and Mary Ruth Pipkin Laney and lived here all of his life.
Graveside services were 11:00 AM Monday, May 15, 2006 at Maple Springs Cemetery near Mercer with Rev. Paul Scott officiating. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Bolivar were in charge of arrangements.
In addition to his wife, whom he married December 24, 1934, he is survived by one daughter, Katie Laney Sayle of Germantown; a sister, Juanita McDowell of Horn Lake, MS and a granddaughter, Laney Cathlyn Sayle of Germantown. He was preceded in death by one sister, Mozelle Maranise.
