Franklin Steadman Murdaugh, 43, of Jackson, died Friday, February 24, 2006 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
He was a correction officer with Hardeman County Correction Facility-Correction Corporation of America. Mr. Murdaugh was born November 2, 1962 in Savannah, Tenn., son of the late Ernest Franklin Murdaugh, Jr. and Marjorie Steadman Murdaugh and received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He had lived in Jackson since the early 1970’s and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Jackson.
Services were 2:00 PM Monday, February 27, 2006 at Shackelford Funeral Directors Bolivar chapel with Paul Clayton officiating. Burial was in Rainey Cemetery near Toone.
Survivors include one sister, Barbara Murdaugh Warner and her husband, Jim and niece and nephew, Catelyn and Will Warner, all of Tampa, FL; his grandmother, Hazel Adcock Steadman of Selmer; two aunts, Virginia Byrum and her husband, Jesse and Mary Emma Floyd and her husband, Bryant, all of Jackson; his cousins with whom he resided, Paula and Rudy Young and their children, Rachel and Ashley Young and cousins, Carol and Robert Moore, John and Lisa Byrum, Mark Floyd and Melissa Floyd. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepmother, Gradine Brown Murdaugh.
