Frank Tatum Cherry

FRANK TATUM CHERRY



Was born in Savannah, Tennessee on April 23, 1933 the fourth eldest child born to loving parents Jack Dillard and Millie Lowery Cherry, Sr. He departed this life on April 14, 2006 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee, Ohio after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by both parents; six brothers, Rev. Thomas Cherry, Elder B. J. Cherry, Jack D. Cherry, Jr., Lonnie Cherry, John T. Cherry, William B. Oglesby, three sisters, Estelle Lutton, Lillie M. Nichols and Mae Maude Sanderson.



He confessed his life at an early age at Graham Chapel C.M.E. Church. After graduating high school he enlisted in the United States Army from November 14, 1950 until he was honorably discharged on May 31, 1955. After moving to Toledo, Ohio he was employed with the United States Postal Service for thirty-six years before retiring on October 2, 1992.



He leaves to celebrate his life: son, Victor Cherry and his wife Wanda of Savannah, Tennessee, daughter, Shondra Perry and her husband Stephen of North Canton, Ohio; two brothers, Clark Cherry and his wife Alma of Savannah, Tennessee and Milton Cherry of Sylmar, California; five grandchildren, Marcus A. Cherry, Sheila R. Cherry, Wynequa D. Cherry, Rebakah Swain and Jerry E. Earley, II and two great grandsons, Donnie Swain and Jerry Earley; sister Mary B. Johnson of Toledo, Ohio; and a special friend, Mary Cherry of Toledo, Ohio. He leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
