Mrs. Deberry passed away Monday morning, June 20, 2016 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
A native of Hardeman County, she was the daughter of the late Henry Arthur and Iva Grantham Ervin. She attended Ebenezer School near Toone until 8th grade and was a 1952 graduate of Bolivar Central High School. On February 21, 1954 in Corinth, MS, she was united in marriage to Robert Lemuel "Bobby" DeBerry. Just after their marriage, while Mr. DeBerry was in the US Army, she spent a year in Ethiopia with him where she celebrated her 21st birthday. Together, Mr. and Mrs. DeBerry enjoyed traveling to 49 of the 50 states. Mr. DeBerry passed away June 11, 2009.
For over 30 years, Mrs. DeBerry was a teacher's aid at Hornsby Elementary School. Over the years, she enjoyed keeping up with the lives of her students after they left Hornsby School. In her earlier years, she had worked briefly in the ASCS office and was a dental assistant to Dr. R. A. Butler. A long time member of the Hornsby Baptist Church, she had taught VBS and especially enjoyed her friendships with other women of the congregation. In her spare time, she enjoyed flowers, gardening, quilting, crocheting, sewing and scrapbooking.
She leaves her daughter Denise DeBerry (Mark) Germino of Nashville; her son, Robert Daniel "Danny" (Debbie) DeBerry of Bolivar; her two sisters, Margie Schultz of Hickory Valley and Margaret (James) Smith of Toone; two grandchildren, Geoff and Carmen Germino(Matt Presson); sister-in-law, Mary Ervin of Bolivar; and brothers-in-law, Russell (Becky) DeBerry of Hornsby and David DeBerry of Memphis; and a host of close friends from church and the community.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Ervin; sister-in-law, Rebecca DeBerry and brother-in-law, Eric Schultz.
