Mrs. Jines passed away Tuesday afternoon at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
The widow of Varney Jines, she was a homemaker. Born March 14, 1928 in Hardeman County to the late Ive and Alice Thornton Cox, she lived most of her life in the area, with the exception of living in Georgia for 30 years. She enjoyed tending to her flowers, knitting, crocheting and was a very fine quilter. She was a member of Cloverport Baptist Church and sang in the choir there.
Survivors include three daughters, Shirley Rutherford of Paducah, KY, Sonja Cates of Southaven, MS and Sue James of Alamo, TN; a nephew, Johnny Pulley of Gainesville, GA; four sisters, Elizabeth Clark of Mifflin, TN, Annie Bell Carver of Linden, TN, Virginia King of Bolivar and Peggy Vires of Lexington, TN; one brother, Buddy Cox of Blue Goose, TN; ten grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two children, brothers and sisters.
