Polly Carter, 67, of Toone, died Friday, September 8, 2006, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.
Born October 28, 1938 to Howard and Flossie Pitts Evans, she was the wife of Billy Ray Carter of Toone who survives. Mrs. Carter enjoyed hunting, fishing, four wheelers, boating and the water. She retired in 2001 after more than 37 years at Kilgore where she was director of quality control, and was a member of New Union Baptist church.
Services were 2 p. m. Monday, September 11, 2006, at Shackelford’s Bolivar chapel with Gene Stafford and Dennis McMahan officiating. Burial was in New Union Cemetery near Medon.
In addition to her husband Billy, whom she married August 10, 1954, she is survived by three sons, Tim Carter of Ripley, TN, Randy Carter of Marshall, TX and Todd Carter of Middleton; one daughter, Robin Fawcett of Decatur, AL; two sisters, Lisa Miller of Selmer and Lori White of Bolivar; two brothers, Dennis Evans of Henderson and Gary Evans of Middleton; ten grandchildren, Russ, Greg and Logan Carter of Ripley, TN; David and Sarah Carter of Marshall, TX, Nicholas Bass of Middleton, Melanie Strubie of Bolivar and Evan Carter of Middleton, Seth and Mitch Fawcett both of Decatur, AL; one great granddaughter, Rylie Paige Carter of Ripley, TN; and her pet dog, Claude.
Memorials may be given to the Tyler Bomar Scholarship Fund or the American Cancer Society.
