Frances Elizabeth Battles

Frances Elizabeth Higginbotham Battles of Clifton, TN was born June 20, 1926 in Birmingham, Alabama, the daughter of the late Henry Higginbotham and Lillian Price Higginbotham House. She was united in marriage to Elmer Battles on February 23, 1941and he preceded her in death on September 18, 1981.



Mrs. Battles was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She had lived on Chigger Ridge Road in Brookwood, AL before moving to Clifton, TN.



Mrs. Battles departed this life on Monday, August 3, 2009 at Wayne County Nursing Home in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 83 Years, 1 Month, 14 Days.



She is survived by sons, Randy Battles and wife, Joanie and Paul Battles and wife, Janice all of Clifton, TN; grandchildren, Scotty Battles and wife, Stacey, Kenneth Battles, Eric Battles and wife, Natalie, Miranda Battles and friend, James Thompson, Ashley Battles, Carrie Battles Hamsley and husband, Billy; great grandchildren, Elizabeth Nicole Battles, Ethan Battles, Haley Beth Battles.



In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Battles was preceded in death by brothers, Gene, Simpson, and Cecil Higginbotham.



Services will be held on Friday, August 7, 2009 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Home in Waynesboro, Tennessee, with William (Butch) Burns officiating. Graveside services and burial will be on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at 2 pm in the Big Hurricane Cemetery at Brookwood, Alabama with Shackelford Funeral Directors of Wayne County directing.



Visitation will be Thursday, August 6, 2009 from 7 pm to 9 pm and Friday, August 7, 2009 from 8 am until service time at the funeral home. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Joe Hall, Kendra Prater, Hall Clinic Staff, Wayne County Nursing Home Nurses and Staff, Wayne Medical Center Nurses and Staff.
