Frances Anderson

Frances Sharp Anderson, widow of John Vernice Anderson, Sr. of Bolivar, died Sunday, December 11, 2005 at Bolivar General Hospital. She was 92 years old.



Laura Frances Sharp Anderson was born November 22, 1913, in Pinson, Tenn., the last of thirteen children born to Robert Lee Sharp and Mary Matilda Boswell Sharp. She was the valedictorian of the Pinson High School Class of 1931.



She was married to John Vernice Anderson Sr., of Cloverport on November 22, 1932. They lived in Cloverport until 1955 when they moved to Bolivar. They were the parents of four children, John Vernice, Jr. Franklin Eugene, Daisy Frances and Joseph Sharp Anderson. She was a homemaker for many years, and was active in the church and community. After her children were grown she attended West Tennessee Business College. She opened the Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio in Bolivar and was a successful businesswoman. She was an active member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Toone and later in Bolivar. She loved the mission work of the church and was a dedicated member of the missionary society, later the Cumberland Presbyterian Women. She was president of the Tuesday Literary Club and the Home Demonstration Club and was active in the APTA.



Services were 1 pm Tuesday, December 13 at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel in Bolivar with Rev. Earl Phelps, Blake White and David Cooper officiating. Burial was in Vernon Cemetery near Toone.



She is survived by two sons, John V. Anderson, Jr. and wife, Susan, of Cloverport; Joe Anderson and wife, Mimi, of Bolivar; a daughter, Daisy Anderson of Gatlinburg and a daughter in law, Janice Anderson of Bolivar. A son, Frank Anderson, preceded her in death. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren, Ellen Anderson, Sarah Kilgore, Laura Anderson, Mark Anderson, Karen Goodman, Michelle McKinnie, Katherine Anderson, Franklin Anderson, Joseph Anderson, Paul Anderson, Caley Rhea and Colin Anderson and thirteen great grandchildren and one great, great grandson.
