Francis Aaron Reaves, age 87 of Middleton, passed away Monday evening, October 31, 2016, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

A graveside service was held Friday, November 4, 2016 at Reaves Cemetery in Middleton with Jackie Kirk officiating. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Bolivar provided the professional services.

Francis Aaron Reaves was born Wednesday, October 16, 1929, to the late William Lonnie Reaves and Lessie Mae Luttrell Reaves, in Middleton. On May 21, 1956, He married Mary Nell Foster Reaves, who preceded him in death.

Francis worked as a meteorologist for NASA. He loved the world. He graduated with the class of 1947 at Middleton High School, attended Freed-Hardeman University and Christian Brothers University, and joined the United States Air Force. Francis grew up here in Hardeman County until he left after high school to join the Air Force. From then he lived in numerous places such as New York, Maine, Japan, Ohio, and Texas before moving back to Hardeman county in 1999.

Survivors include four daughters, Frances J. Perkins of Pasadena, Texas, Florence Joan Chipps of Rapid City, South Dakota, Jackie Lynn Kirk of Middleton, and Jennifer Lee Reaves of Milledgeville; one son, Robert W. Reaves of New Albany, Mississippi; three sisters, Avis Terry of Germantown, Yvonne Campbell of Jackson, and Janice Shavers of Mobile, Alabama; four grandchildren, Shawna Tennura Byrd, Jessica Nell Hayes, Jerry F. Hays, and Robert Reaves, Jr.; and two great-grandchildren, Navi Lynn Hays and Alexis Lynn Hays.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Vada Hudson and Doris Denton.
