Floyd Holmes
Henderson: Floyd “Country Boy” Holmes, age 75 died at his home Saturday morning, May 11, 2019.
Mr. Holmes was born and reared in Henderson County, the son of the late J. B. and Bertie Lois Johnson Holmes. He attended schools in Henderson County and had been in the trucking business all his adult life. He married Rhonda Crowe in 1974 and they made their home in Chester County. He owned and operated Holmes Trucking since 1975, gravel and asphalt haulers. He hauled for Dement Construction and Delta Contractors. He managed a one hundred truck fleet at one time. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Rhonda Jean Crowe Holmes, a son Darryl Plunk of Lexington, a daughter Kerri Holmes Wilson and husband Chris of Henderson, three grandchildren; Eli Plunk, Megan Rinehart, and Seth Wilson, a brother Riley Holmes of Huron, and a sister Kathy Renfroe of Huron.
He was preceded in death by two brothers Loyd Holmes and Edward Holmes.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday at Shackelford Funeral Directors Crook Avenue with Elder Dennis Seratt and John Talbott officiating.
Burial will follow at Montezuma Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Shackelford Crook Avenue from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM Monday.
