Floyd Thomas (Tom) Hill was born April 8, 1933 in McNairy County, TN the son of the late Samuel Clay and Margaret Harris Hill.
He was united in marriage to Media Lee Sparks on June 29, 1956. To this union three sons were born. Media preceded Mr. Hill in death on August 24, 2005, following 48 years of marriage. Mr. Hill married Wilma Faye Smith Inman on September 5, 2006.
Mr. Hill spent his childhood in Purdy, Bethel Springs, and Milan. He worked for the City of Memphis until his children were born, then returned to McNairy County and settled in the Mt. Gilead Community, where he lived for 50 years. Mr. Hill owned and operated Tom & Danny Hill Construction and was a farmer. He also owned a Ford tractor dealership in Selmer from 1972 until 1975, and served as McNairy County Road Commissioner for 12 years, from 2002 until 2014. He was interested in old cars and tractors and was a collector of guns and knives, but his favorite activity was spending time with his family and playing with his grandchildren. Mr. Hill served his country in the United States Army and was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, the Purdy and Bethel Springs Masonic Lodges and the Selmer Rotary Club.
Mr. Hill departed this life on March 12, 2022 in Adamsville, Tennessee at the age of 88 Years, 11 Months, 4 Days. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Wilma Faye Hill of Adamsville, TN; two sons, Sammy Hill and wife Norita of Hornsby, TN and Brett Hill and wife Kristen of Selmer, TN; a step daughter, Janice Meek and husband Dickie of Adamsville, TN; 5 grandchildren: Adam Hill and wife Ginger of Bethel Springs, TN, Dixie Price and husband Matt of Murfreesboro, TN, Alex Albert and husband Justin of Arlington, TX, Vickie Hill of New Castle, WY, and Alaina Hill of Arlington, TX; 7 step grandchildren: Mitch Morrison of Selmer, TN, Miranda Morrison of Ft. Worth, TX, Jason Verriere of Keller, TX, Wendy Ashe and husband Wayne of Bon Aqua, TN, Chastity Clay and husband Tommy of Gilchrist, Angel Reeves and husband Phillip and Cody Inman, all of Lawton; 8 great-grandchildren; 14 step great-grandchildren; 1 step great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents and first wife, Mr. Hill was preceded in death by a son, Danny Hill; two step sons, Rayford and Lonnie Inman; six brothers: Leonard Hill, Eldon Hill, John Hill, Lonnie Hill, William Samuel Hill, and Lloyd Rayburn Hill; and two sisters, Linda Carolyn Kindle and Mary Helen Hill.
