Floyd (Red) Cummings



was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on June 24, 1915 the son of the late John Thomas and Memphi Mitchell Cummings.



He was united in marriage May 1936 to MaryBelle Gammill, who preceded him in death on April 30, 2001.



Mr. Cummings had lived in the Olive Hill community, later moving to the Walkertown community, and then to Savannah, where he lived for the past 59 years. He had worked as a self-employed carpenter and in maintenance for the Hardin County School System. He always looked forward to visiting McDonalds restaurant in the mornings for breakfast and good conversation with friends. A fan of country music, who loved attending the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee. His favorite past time was playing his guitar and singing Hank Williams, Sr. songs. He was of methodist faith.



Mr. Cummings departed this life on Monday, January 7, 2008 at the age of

92 years, 6 months, 14 days.



He is survived by 2 sons: Jerry Cummings and Johnny Cummings both of Savannah, Tennessee; 2 daughters: Karen Alexander and Kathy Jerrolds both of Savannah, Tennessee; 9 grandchildren: Stephen Cummings, Tommy Cummings, Cara Cummings, Sharon McCutchen, Regina Chenault, Tammy Thomas, Jeffrey Cummings, Chad Segars, Brad Jerrolds;

8 step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren: Hannah Cummings, Jackson Cummings, Caleb Chenault, Noah McCutchen, Cydney Thomas, Megan Thomas, Natalie Thomas, Cameron Thomas, Carson Cummings, Ryder Cummings; 5 step-great-grandchildren.



In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a son: Tommy Cummings; a brother: Claude Cummings; 5 sisters: Pearl Jones, Lillie Henson, Martha Sharp, Myrtle Cummings, Estelle Neil.
