FLOSSIE MAE BARKER
was born on June 27, 1930, in Enville, Tennessee, to the late Elcie Lee and Ella Elizabeth Shelton.
On July 29th, 1955, in Memphis, Tennessee, she was united in marriage to George Travis Barker, who was born on August 9,1919, and preceded her in death on March 8, 1981. She lived in the Huntsville, Alabama area for 19 years and in Memphis, Tennessee for 65 years.
Mrs. Barker was a self-employed Licensed Practical Nurse for many years and retired as Manager of the LPN Registry in Memphis, Tennessee. She was a member of the Tennessee Licensed Practical Nurses' Association, Edgar Cayce Organization, A.R.E., Inc. of Virginia Beach, Virginia and also a member of the Church of Christ. She was interested in genealogy, enjoyed helping others as a nurse and enjoyed taking patients to the doctor's office and helping in anyway she could.
Mrs. Barker departed this life on May 15, 2013, at the age of 82 years, 10 months and 18 days.
She is survived by a step-daughter, Carol Ann Barker Sluder of Warner Robbins, Georgia; one grandchild, Renee, 2 great-grandchildren, Jason, and Mallory, 2 geat-great-grandchildren, Levi and Lilly; and one sister, Virginia Louise Artis of Huntsville, Alabama.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by 2 sisters, Gathel Rebecca Colbert and Virginia Faye Baggett.
