Faye Ross Johnson
Pinson: Ola Faye Ross Johnson, age 83, passed away Saturday afternoon at her home in Jackson.
Mrs. Johnson was born and reared on the Russell Farm near Huron, the daughter of the late Willie Pearl and Willie Leona Johnson Ross. She married Alfred “Pat” Johnson in 1951 and they made their home in the Mason Wells Community.
She worked in the garment industry, Pinson Elementary School, American Olean Tile, ITT Nesbitt, and various other places.
She enjoyed gardening, fishing, and attending her grandson’s ballgames. She sang in the Bible Aires Gospel group and loved singing at church. She was a member of the Mason Wells Church.
Mr. Johnson preceded in death in 2006.
She is survived by a daughter, Elesha Johnson Reid and husband John of Jackson, a grandson Grant Reid, two brothers; Junior Ross and wife Brenda of Mifflin and Randy Ross and wife Susie of Henderson, and two sister-in-laws Patsy Ross and Linda Ross, a host of nieces and nephews, and special friends; Brenda Wallace, Marie Love, Brittany Merriweather, Tiffany Suazo, and Gloria Brown.
She was preceded in death by two brothers; Bill Ross and Sammy Ross and a sister Margaret Fiddler and husband James.
Funeral services will be 11 AM Tuesday at Shackelford Funeral Directors Crook Avenue with Bart Ross and Mike Kelly officiating. Burial will follow at Big Springs Cemetery at Five Points.
The family will receive friends at the Crook Avenue Chapel from 6 PM until 8 PM Monday.
