Evelyn "Prill" Yarbrough, 88, of Toone, died Thursday, August 31, 2006 at Vanderbilt Medical Research Center in Nashville.
The widow of Paul Bert Yarbrough, who died in January 1962, she was a registered nurse at Armira and Kilgore and personnel director at Armira. She was also the Hardeman County Public Health Nurse from 1963-67 and owner of the General Home Service furniture and appliance store in Toone. Mrs. Yarbrough was born April 8, 1918 in Ballard County, Kentucky, daughter of the late James Bailey Lawrence and Idyle Fisher Lawrence and lived in Memphis for 20 years before making her home in Toone in 1962. She served in the U. S. Army during WWII as a nurse and was a member of Toone Baptist Church where she was a Gleamers Sunday school leader and served on the building committee, her family having donated land for the church.
Services were 11 a.m. Monday, September 4, 2006 at Toone Baptist Church with Mike Wiggins officiating. Burial was in Rainey Cemetery near Toone.
Survivors include two sons, Glenn “Bubbie†Yarbrough of Toone, Paul Bailey Yarbrough and his wife, Susan M., of Jackson; two daughters, Jane McNeill and her husband, George, of Troy and Mary Yarbrough of Nashville; eight grandchildren, Benjamin Paul Yarbrough of San Diego, Lindy Young of Nashville, Jennifer Jones of Bolivar, Mary Claire Vogler of Columbia, SC, Bobby Russell of Troy, Danny McNeill of Nashville, Tommy McNeill of Greenville, SC and Caroline Wells of Jackson and ten great grandchildren, Kelsey, B.J. and Emma Grace Yarbrough, Mary Elizabeth Vogler, Cailey and Olivia Jones, Carson Wells, Jonathan, Meagan and Jaymes Young.
