Evelyn Avent

Evelyn Avent, 92, of Bartlett, formerly of Bolivar, passed from this life Friday, December 16, 2022, at her home in Bartlett. Private family only services will be held.

She was born Monday, May 5, 1930, in Middleton, daughter of the late John Thomas Donaldson and Ida Pearle Howell Donaldson and lived in Hardeman County until she moved to Bartlett 36 years ago. She was well known as a cake baker/decorator, owning her own shop in Bolivar for several years and also working for the Kroger bakery in Bartlett for 8 years. She was a member of Quail Ridge Church of Christ.

Survivors include three daughters, Sherry Holt (Mike) of Bartlett, Sue Witcher of Troy, IL and Cathy Hodum of Jackson; three sons, Gary Avent (Cheryl) of Bolivar, Barry Avent (Rhonda) of Middleton and Randy Avent of Bolivar; 13 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Wade Avent; three brothers, James, Therman and Herman Donaldson; a sister, Ruby Ehrett; a son in law, Ron Witcher and a daughter in law, Gloria Avent.
