Evangeline Burress Brooks was born January 9, 1914 in McNairy County, Tennessee the daughter of the late James and Nancy Allene Maxedon Burress.She was united in marriage to Aulton B. Brooks. Mr. Brooks preceded her in death on May 5, 1985.She was a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was a member of the Southaven First United Methodist Church and participated in United Methodist Women and church senior citizen activities, as well as a former church treasurer. She was also a former Sunday School teacher at Lebanon United Methodist Church near Michie, Tennessee. Mrs. Brooks departed this life on November 8, 2005 in Southaven, Mississippi at the age of 91 Years, 9 Months, 30 Days.She is survived by her daughter, Doris Oswalt and husband Earl of Southaven, Mississippi; her son, Kenneth Brooks and wife Joann of Counce, Tennessee; a sister, Jo Nelle Lingo of Jackson, Missouri; two brothers, Lawrence Burress of St. Louis, Missouri, Henry Reeder and wife Donna of Richardson, Texas; grandchildren, Martha Carol Carpenter and husband Randy of Collierville, Tennessee, Vincent Oswalt of Southaven, Mississippi, Christopher Oswalt of Horn Lake, Mississippi, Jacey McMeans of Counce, Tennessee; and great grandchildren, Kelsey Carpenter, Brayden Carpenter.In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by a sister, Geraldine Vandeford and a brother, James Burress, Jr.
