EVAN FRANKLIN (HOSS) GANUS
was born in Crump, Tennessee on June 9, 1926 the son of the late James Franklin and Sarah Catherine Harris Ganus.
On November 15, 1952 he was united in marriage to Rosella Wallis Ganus, who preceded her husband in death on May 9, 2008.
Mr. Ganus worked for the Iron Workers Local Union #477 in Sheffield, Alabama. He served his country in the United States Navy where he served in World War II. While serving in the United States Navy he received the American Theater Medal and the Victory Medal. Mr. Ganus also was a member of the F & AM Masonic Lodge #338 in Adamsville, Tennessee. He loved hunting, especially coon hunting. Mr. Ganus was very proud of his grandchildren and their presence always brought a smile to his face. He was an honest and hard working man and to summarize him in his own words, "I've never lied about a coon dog and never voted for a Republican".
Mr. Ganus departed this life on October 10, 2013 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 87 years, 4 months and 1 day.
He is survived by his children, Charlotte Durham, Mike Ganus and Barry Ganus, all of Adamsville, Tennessee, Jeff Ganus of Selmer, Tennessee and Greg Ganus of Goodlettsville, Tennessee
seven grandchildren, Jeremy Durham, Brodie Meter, Ashley Durham, Clay Ganus, Amanda Brasfield, Alyssa Ganus and Evan Ganus
In addition to his parents and his wife, Mr. Ganus was also preceded in death by five brothers, Charley, Roy, Erby, Uley and James Ganus and four sisters, Della Hopper, Hester Stewart, Mollie Miller and Fannie Fierce.
