Eva Barkley Woods

March 10, 1931 — October 27, 2013

Eva Barkley Woods, age 82, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at her home in Nashville, TN. She was born in 1931 in Florence, Alabama. Mrs. Woods and her husband raised three children in the Eagle Creek community in Wayne County, Tennessee. She worked at Clifton Manufacturing for 35 years and owned and operated a curtain and drapery business for 10 years. She moved to Nashville in 1997 and worked in sales at Opry Mills Mall for 7 years before retiring.
Mrs. Woods was a very determined woman who was always known as a hard worker no matter the task. They say a person is rich if they have a lot of friends and Mrs. Woods had a lot of frineds in Wayne County Community, Florence, Alabama Shoals area and Nashville areas. She was preceded by her husband Lawrence Woods, parents Elmer and Marie Barkley, brothers Kenneth Barkley and William (Tootie) Barkely and sister Ella Glen Turnbo.

She is survived by daughter, Cathy Sutherland (Charles), two grandsons, Chris and Cody of Brentwood, TN, daughter, Deborah Mitchell (Wendell) of Nashville, Tennessee and a son David Woods (girlfriend Deborah) of Florence, AL, granddaughter, Karen Horton, (Harwell) and great-grandson, Riggs of Murfreesboro, TN and granddaughter, Lisa Foster (Ron) and great granddaughter, Zoe of Antioch, TN, several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at 12:00 PM at Grace Church in Franklin, Tennessee, with William Sasser officiating. Dan Skinner and Barry Mendonca will give the eulogy. Interment will be in Walker Cemetery on Eagle Creek near Waynesboro at 3:00 PM following services. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to services at Grace Church.

Pallbearers are Roger Smith, Dennis Nance, Larry Horn, Wendell Mitchell, Chris Sutherland, and Cody Sutherland, honorary pallbearers are the great staff of Gentiva Hospice and Trevecca Healthcare and the fine Wayne County folks who knew Mrs. Woods.

Mrs. Woods was the best mother, grandmother, friend anyone could ask for and she will be missed by her loved ones. In her life and in her golden years she was never a burden but a blessing to all who knew her. Mrs. Woods always had a big heart and was always willing to help anyone in need. Momma we know you will enjoy your Heavenly home with no more suffering and we will see you again when it is our time to be with you and Daddy in heaven.
