EVA MAE WHITMAN
Beech Bluff, TN; Eva Mae Whitman, age 93 passed away Monday, September 26, 2022, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
She was born in Jackson, TN December 4, 1928, daughter of the late Robert F. and Lucy Cordelia Sellers Hopper. She grew up in Jackson and attended Harts Bridge School.
She married Carlos Whitman on, June 9, 1945, and they made their home in Madison County. Mr. Whitman died in 1989.
She worked in several garment factories as an adult then in her later years she was an adult sitter.
She enjoyed growing vegetable and flower gardens, crocheting, and was an excellent cook. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was Baptist in faith and attended E. Laurel Baptist and then later Mason Wells Baptist Churches.
She was survived by two daughters, Brenda Whitman Collins (Jerry) of Denmark and Barbara Whitman Ray (Danny) of Beech Bluff; son-in-law, Harold Moody of Beech Bluff; eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; daughter, Phyllis Whitman Moody; two brothers, Robert Hopper and Eugene Hopper; and four sisters, Lila Boone, Violet Smith, Annie Burkhead, and Beatrice Weir.
Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, September 29, 2022, at Mason Wells Cemetery in Beech Bluff, TN with Danny Ray and Jerry Collins officiating.
