Eva Levon White, 65, of Bolivar, died Tuesday, October 3, 2006 at Overton Park Health Center in Memphis.
She retired from Western Mental Health Institute after more than 30 years in human resources. Ms. White was born November 1, 1940, in Hardeman County, daughter of the late Herman and Hazel White Smith. She graduated from Whiteville High School in 1958 and lived in the Whiteville-Bolivar area most of her life. Mrs. White was an active member of Parran’s Chapel Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, taught Acteens for many years and served as church secretary for 17 years.
Services were 3:00 p.m. Friday, October 6, 2006 at Parran’s Chapel Baptist Church with Doug Baker officiating. Burial was in Parran’s Chapel Cemetery. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Bolivar were in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Sherry and Scott Pennington of Wylie, Texas and Sheila and Randy Ward of Bartlett; one son and his wife, Marvin and Jane White of Bolivar; two sisters, Faye Lester and Alma Terry, both of Bolivar; three brothers, Donald Smith of Martin, Wayne Smith of Hobart, Indiana and Dennis Smith of Vinemont, Alabama and four grandchildren, Michael and Matthew White, Drew and Slade Pennington.
