Eugene Edwin Rossman
was born in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania on January 9, 1918 the son of the late John and Della G. Rossman.
On September 12, 1942 he married Emma Lou McKinnis, who preceded him in death on April 27, 2000.
Eugene was a veteran of World War II, entering the Army Company A 61st Armored Infantry in July 1941 as a Heavy Mortar Gunner. He saw his first combat when the Allies invaded North Africa on November 8, 1942. His service sent him to Algeria, Morocco, Tunisian, Sicily, Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. Eugene earned nine Battle Stars and a Bronze Star Medal for Valor. He was Honorable Discharged in 1945. He then worked for U.S. Steel where he was employeed as an inspector for 33 years.
Mr. Rossman departed this life on December 25, 2007 at the age of 89 years, 11 months, 16 days.
He is survived by his son: Greg Rossman and wife Linda of Savannah, Tennesse; 2 grandchildren: Eric Rossman of Savannah, Tennessee, Richard Rossman of Toronto, Canada; 2 step-grandchildren: Bobbie Wren of Corinth, Mississippi and Amanda Chilcutt of Crump, Tennessee; 1great-grandaughter: Cailyn Rossman; 2 brothers: Kenneth Rossmanof Athens, Alabama and Jerry Rossman of Ocala, Florida.
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his son: Robert E. Rossman; 3 brothers: Paul Rossman, Norbert Rossman, and Bert Rossman.
