Eugene Hodge, 75, of Middleton, departed this life Wednesday morning, July 3, 2019 at Magnolia Regional Healthcare Center in Corinth.
The widower of Patricia Rainey Hodge, who passed away on July 7, 2018 after 54 years of marriage, he worked as a receiving/packing clerk with Sears in Memphis and had worked in maintenance at Baptist Rehab. His last job was as a bus driver for Hardeman County, and he loved being around the kids on his route. He was born August 20, 1943 in Middleton, son of the late Robert Neal Hodge and Callie Pearl Allen Hodge and lived in Memphis from 1964-1990, moving back here in 1990. A 1962 graduate of Middleton High School, he enjoyed gardening and being around all his animals, which included dogs, goats, chickens and horses. He loved to 'cut up' with everyone and was well known as a prankster. Mr. Hodge was a member of Jesus' Name Community Church in Walnut.
Survivors include a daughter, Katie Hodge of Jacksonville, AR; a sister and brother in law, Mavis (Oscar) Nooner of Lepanto, AR; and a sister in law, Christine Hodge of Saltillo, MS. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joan Davis and her husband, Shorty, and a brother, Leonard Hodge.
