Eugene Cox, 89, of Bolivar, died Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at Bolivar General Hospital.
The widower of Thelma Johnson Cox, who died in March 15, 1987 after 51 years of marriage, he was a retired farmer. Mr. Cox was born April 20, 1916 in McNairy County, son of the late John Riley Cox and Maddie Wood Cox and was raised in Mt. Gilead before making his home in Hardeman County 70 years ago. He was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church.
Services were 1 PM Friday, December 30, 2005 at Shackelford Funeral Directors Bolivar chapel with Orville McMahan officiating. Burial was in Bolivar Memorial Cemetery.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Billy Gene and Joy Cox of Bolivar; four grandsons, Christopher Cox and his wife, Diana, of Bolivar, David “Todd†Cox of Covington, Jeremy Hunt of Bolivar and Michael Armour of Southaven, Miss.; two granddaughters, Jennifer Townsend and her husband, Norman, of Middleton and Savannah Moore of Bolivar and one great grandson, Joshua Townsend of Middleton. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Vernon and Elmer Cox and two sisters, Beatrice Ray and Graple Robinson.
