Etta Rainey Wray was born in Mill Creek, Missouri on March 2, 1932, the daughter of the late Cecil and Anna Rainey.
On March 15, 1946, she was united in marriage to Emmett Wray.
Etta, better known as Nanny Wray, loved people and lived to serve others. She had a special gift of anticipating ones needs and providing for that need. Etta was a cosmetologist for 30 years. Formerly of Booneville, Mississippi, she had lived in Savannah, Tennessee since 1971 and was a member of the East End United Methodist Church. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Many claimed her as their own.
One of Etta's favorite hobbies was playing cards every Wednesday and Thursday with different groups of friends.
She departed this life on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at the age of 80 years, 10 months, 4 days.
Etta is survived by a daughter, Diane Wray Fariss (Alan) of Savannah; a son, Larry Wray (Debra) of Olive Branch, Mississippi; grandchildren, Chad Wray (Linda) of Hernando, Mississippi, Jeremy Wray (Shelena) of Olive Branch, Mississippi, Tracy Fariss Rasbach (Ben) of Jackson, Tennessee; great grandchildren, Baylor Rasbach, Conner Wray, Farris Rasbach, Hudson Wray, Baker Rasbach, and a step great grandchild, Elizabeth Kogler; devoted companion and friend, Gaylen Scott.
Etta was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Wray on April 6, 1999; granddaughter, Keshia Fariss; sisters, Geraldine Evans and Lillian Johnson; brother, Wayne Rainey.
